West Ham face £19m blow with Bielsa allegedly ready to bring 24-y/o to Leeds – Hammers News – West Ham United FC

West Ham could face a huge battle this summer, with the Telegraph reporting that Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa wants to bring alleged David Moyes target Robin Koch to Elland Road.

The Hammers boss needs to bolster his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer. The addition of another defensive midfielder would not go a miss either.

And with that in mind, Robin Koch would be the ideal addition, what with his ability to play in both the centre-back and defensive midfield positions.

West Ham want to sign the 24-year-old German this summer, according to a report from the Daily Star.

But with Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa now reportedly interested in the centre-back as well, the Hammers could very well have their work cut-out.

Koch a potential star in the making

The 24-year-old has played 32 Bundesliga games for Freiburg this season, scoring one goal in the process (Who Scored).

In those 31 outings, the German has averaged 1.1 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and three clearances per game. He has also won an average of 3.7 aerial duals per game during that period (Who Scored).

Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Koch is big, strong and commanding in the air. He is exactly the type of defender we should be looking to sign this summer.

Our best defender Angelo Ogbonna will be 33 next season. It is vital that Moyes recognises the need to add more youth to his back-line this summer.

Koch would be a truly great signing for West Ham.

The Daily Star claims that Freiburg are ready to sell the 6ft 3in giant for around £19 million this summer. And that would represent incredible value.

But with Leeds allegedly sniffing around Koch now, the Hammers’ task of signing the German seems to have got that little bit harder overnight.
