Watch: Dolphins pairing of Tua Tagovailoa and Jakeem Grant training together – Dolphins Wire

The offseason in South Florida offers plenty of opportunities to get outside and sweat. There’s no need to worry about winter months for any Miami Dolphins players who choose to stick around for their offseason work — and we’re seeing flashes of what the Dolphins’ offensive cornerstone, Tua Tagovailoa, is up to on social media these past few weeks.

But the latest glimpse of Tagovailoa’s training for Year 2 in the NFL comes courtesy of Miami Dolphins receiver Jakeem Grant, who is training with Tagovailoa and working on timing with Miami’s now uncontested starting quarterback. Grant posted a highlight video on his Instagram page that offers a behind the scenes look at how Tagovailoa and Grant are working together to be the best version of a pairing they can be in 2021.

Whether or not Grant will remain a part of the Dolphins’ plans in 2021 is up for some debate. Miami recently inked speedy receiver Will Fuller to a one-year contract to presumably assume many of Grant’s reps as the Dolphins’ speed receiver and vertical threat. And the Dolphins are, on the whole, facing a numbers problem at the wide receiver position. There are plenty of returning players scheduled to be back next season but the Dolphins have also signed Fuller and Robert Foster to contracts and resigned Mack Hollins yesterday.

Perhaps the Dolphins are waiting things out until they can find a quality trade value for one of their mid-level receivers. Or maybe the team is willing to carry this slew of receivers into training camp and let the competition sort things out. If that is indeed the case, one would have to assume that this extra time Grant is currently putting in with Tagovailoa will go a long way in helping to build a case to stay in the picture in 2021.
