Thomas Meunier Mocks Jordan Henderson After Englands Win Over Belgium – SPORTbible

Thomas Meunier made sure Jordan Henderson knew he wasn’t happy with the England captain, and mocked the midfielder for what he clearly thought was a dive.

England beat Belgium on Sunday evening to go top of the group in the Nations League, and inflicting a rare defeat on the world number one ranked team.

The visitors took the lead through a Romelu Lukaku penalty, after he was fouled by Eric Dier, but England got level from a spot kick of their own.

Meunier was adjudged to have brought Henderson down in the box when marking him at a corner.

It was clear at the time that the Borussia Dortmund full back wasn’t convinced that he’d made enough contact with Henderson’s shoulder for it to make any difference.

Without VAR available to the referees though the decision stood and Marcus Rashford made it 1-1, which flattered the Three Lions at the time.

Gareth Southgate’s team certainly improved in the second half and eventually won the game thanks to Mason Mount’s deflected goal.

After the match Meunier had a long conversation with the man he fouled for the penalty, and clearly he still wasn’t happy with the decision, or the former Sunderland midfielder.

Speaking after the match it did seem a little like the 30-year-old, who deputised as captain for Harry Kane, wasn’t too sure if it was a penalty.

Henderson was asked about the decision and had to ask the interviewer what he thought of the decision, not exactly the words of a convinced player.

Maybe Meunier did have a point.
