The Lancashire neighbourhoods with next to no Covid cases – Lancs Live

The UK is now almost three months into a full national lockdown after coronavirus cases rocketed over the Christmas period.

Since entering strict restrictions in the first week of January, the nation has been hoping to see dramatic decreases in infection rates so that life can return to some semblance of normal later this year.

Some parts of Lancashire have been hit particularly hard during the third lockdown, with infection rates soaring in East Lancashire and taking longer to come down.

To date (March 31), the situation remains worst in Blackburn with Darwen and Preston which still have infection rates higher than 100 cases per 100,000 people.

And rates in both boroughs are increasing, with Preston’s rising from 88.7 to 105.5 and Blackburn with Darwen’s up from 98.9 to 115.6.

Chorley has seen its rate become the third highest in Lancashire, overtaking Burnley, South Ribble, Hyndburn, and Rossendale with rates falling in all four of those boroughs.

However, new figures released by the Government have shown promising drops in Covid-19 cases in many areas across the county.
