Constance Wu is taking on a new role: Motherhood.
The “Crazy Rich Asians” star, 38, privately welcomed a baby girl with musician boyfriend Ryan Kattner over the summer, her manager Larry Taube confirmed to USA TODAY Monday.
This is the first child for Wu and Kattner, who performs in the Man Man rock band under the stage name Honus Honus.
Wu is is notoriously private about her personal life and didn’t announce her pregnancy. The star has even labeled her Instagram and Twitter pages “defunct.” (She last posted on Instagram in May and on Twitter in 2019.)
Kattner is more active than his significant other on social media, but has not publicly commented on the arrival of their daughter.
In 2018, Wu opened up about backlash she’s faced for dating non-Asian men.
“Hate and criticism in any form do not feel good,” Wu told StyleCaster. “But I do think having the freedom to express things that are painful to certain people and start conversations about deeper issues (is a good thing). Unfortunately, sometimes those conversations are targeted, but I’m very confident in the choices I make and why I make them, so if and when they are targeted at me, if this is a means for someone else to figure out and discover the things that matter to them or the things they feel about themselves, then I’m all for it. Because I’m OK.”
