Inter feel more confident about signing Liverpool’s Gini Wijnaldum, according to reports. The race for the Dutchman is heating up.
This comes from FC Inter News of the Tutto Mercato Web network. They claim that Inter feel better about signing Gini Wijnaldum and might just pull it off.
There’s a very good reason for that, too – Barcelona may pull out of the race. Finances are tight in Catalonia and they may not justify signing the Liverpool star.
Not that things are totally comfortable in Milan, either. But Inter believe they could make space on their wage bill for Wijnaldum by selling Christian Eriksen.
They signed the Dane a year ago for £17m but it just hasn’t worked out. As a result, they want to move him on to have a shot at Wijnaldum.

What RTK has to say
Well, we can expect plenty of stories like this as we head towards January.
Wijnaldum can start talking with non-domestic teams once the year ticks over, given his contract expires in June. That opens the door to all sorts.
Barcelona may well have too many problems of their own to tackle this one. They’re struggling badly, have an unhappy Lionel Messi, and a presidential race that’s heating up.
So we’re ready to believe that they’re heading in a new direction.
Inter, though, do look like a very solid destination. If they want Wijnaldum, they may well get him but it does ask one question – why?
Why does Wijnaldum want to move to Inter from Liverpool?
Inter are nowhere near as successful in recent years, nor are they a financial powerhouse. They’re mainly a home for struggling Premier League stars right now, with Eriksen, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Ashley Young on their books.
Wijnaldum doesn’t really fit that criteria.
Perhaps he just wants a new challenge, perhaps he wants a bigger role. Perhaps it’s a long-term thing, given Wijnaldum is now 30 and Liverpool may want to replace him soon.
While the Wijnaldum side is a bit mysterious, the Inter side isn’t. They’re surely in pole-position to secure a fantastic player. So we can expect them to make moves in that direction very soon.
