However, the MEN understands a decision has not been made on the futures of Cavani, 34 on Sunday, and Mata, who will turn 33 in April.
Cavani joined United on a free transfer on deadline day in October and has scored seven times, having ousted Anthony Martial to become United’s first-choice striker. United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken of his desire to keep Cavani at least until the end of next season.
“At the moment, it looks like he has a few years left in him,” Solskjaer said on Boxing Day. “So I wouldn’t say anything else. He has made a great impact when he has come here. Let’s focus on improving everyone but he has a few years left in him.”
Mata recently celebrated his seventh anniversary at United but has not been named in the last four matchday squads and he has not been pictured in training.
