Report: Big moments for De Bruyne, Silva and Ederson
Manchester City went into the final day of the season hunting landmarks, Champions League momentum, and little else.
Kevin De Bruyne, Ederson and Raheem Sterling all grabbed some personal satisfaction, and the Blues rattled up 102 goals for the season.
And, more importantly, a couple of individual displays gave Pep Guardiola intriguing options for that clash with Real Madrid in 12 days’ time.
Blues fans have become used to their heroes being centre stage at the sharp end of the campaign, but this time all the drama was kicking off elsewhere.
Pep Guardiola had made it plain there was plenty to play for in the game.
As well as professional pride, there was the 100-goal mark, which required three goals against the relegated Canaries.
And then there were individual achievements to aim for, at which Guardiola turns up his nose.
De Bruyne has already wrapped up Playmaker of the Year with 19 assists but one more would have seen him match Thierry Henry’s Premier League record.
He spent the first half trying to lay it on a plate for wasteful others, before curling a shot of his own into the top corner.
