Lancashires latest coronavirus cases by area as Preston records biggest rise in county – Lancs Live

Another 134 people in Lancashire have tested positive for coronavirus, latest figures show.

Preston recorded the biggest daily increases with 28 positive Covid tests, with Blackburn with Darwen just behind at 25 cases.

There were also double digit rises for Lancaster (13) and West Lancashire (10).

The data from Public Health England shows that Blackpool had the smallest rise with just three cases.

It means that Lancashire has now seen a total of 123,311 cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic was declared in March 2020. However, many of these infections will no longer be active.

Data shows that there have been a futher 4,715 lab-confirmed cases in the UK, bringing the total to 4,329,180.

The Government said a further 58 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Saturday, bringing the UK total to 126,573.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have now been 149,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Saturday, there had been a further 4,715 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.

It brings the total to 4,329,180.

The data below includes the total number of cases and overall infection rate for each area since the pandemic began. Many of these cases will no longer be active.

Blackburn with Darwen: 17,802 (+25), 11,892.1 per 100,000

Preston: 13,576 (+28), 9,484.8 per 100,000

Ribble Valley: 4,536 (+4), 7,449.7 per 100,000

Rossendale: 6,032 (+5), 8,438.5 per 100,000

South Ribble: 7,9973 (+7), 7,196.6 per 100,000

West Lancashire: 8,823 (+10) 7,718.8 per 100,000

Wyre: 6,595 (+5), 5,883.6 per 100,000

Government data up to March 26 shows that of the 33,020,952 jabs given in the UK so far, 29,727,435 were first doses – a rise of 411,305 on the previous day.

Some 3,293,517 were second doses, an increase of 283,654.
