John Hartson fires Rangers dig at Kris Boyd as Celtic hero bites back in on-air sparring duel – Daily Record

John Hartson aimed a cheeky dig back at Kris Boyd as the Celtic and Rangers favourites continued their on-air sparring session.

Earlier, Boyd scoffed at Hartson questioning whether the Ibrox side will be able to handle the pressure of leading from the front in the Premiership title race.

Steven Gerrard’s side sit 16 clear of Celtic after both sides won on Saturday, with the Hoops also having played three games fewer than their rivals.

Neil Lennon’s side swept Hamilton aside after watching Rangers beat Hibs at Ibrox.

Boyd admitted he feared a decimated Accies side could take a heavy beating, having seen Gerrard’s men put eight past them earlier this season.

He said: “Brian Rice, to an extent, will be pleased with his team today.

“I saw them getting beat by eight here (at Ibrox). You look at their starting line-up and think there’s an opportunity they could get beat by high numbers again today.

“It wasn’t the case. They stayed in the game in the first half, Celtic totally deserved to win the game, there’s no getting away from it – but it easily could have been a five or six which would’ve had a big impact on the goal difference.”

Boyd was then cut off in full flow as Hartson took a pop at the former Ibrox star for bringing up Rangers ‘ hammering of Brian Rice’s side.

Hartson quipped: “Did Rangers beat them by eight?”

Boyd replied: “Come on, John…”

And Hartson said: “It was only Hamilton though, wasn’t it?”
