Kane has scored seven times and produced nine assists in as many Premier League matches
Kane came in for huge praise on Saturday following Tottenham’s 2-0 victory over Manchester City, producing the dirty work by tracking back, breaking up play and winning clever fouls in a brilliant all-round display.
And Carragher has since hailed the Tottenham talisman for leading from the front as he takes on a new and more all-round role under Jose Mourinho.
Carragher told Sky Sports: ‘I spoke about Harry Kane on this show a month ago about this new role and this new No 10.
‘Harry Kane is the most street-wise footballer in the Premier League by a long way and I love it, I absolutely love it.’
Jamie Carragher sang the praises of the Tottenham talisman after his display against Man City
Carragher was strong in his defence of Kane amid diving accusations that have been thrown his way in recent times.
Kane has received diving jibes recently, and the criticism came to the fore after he won a penalty against Brighton by ducking and allowing Adam Lallana to jump over him, committing a foul.
But Carragher is adamant that the 27-year-old is not cheating, but instead is ‘really clever’ at drawing fouls.
He added: ‘And if anyone after this piece tells me he is cheating or going down, it’s not. It is a big part of the game and a really clever part of the game.
The former Liverpool and England centre back also praised Kane’s ability to draw fouls
‘He made Man City’s defenders look really childish and naive not understanding football.’
Kane will be desperate to continue his fantastic form ahead of a crunch period of fixtures for Tottenham.
Tottenham face Chelsea, north London rivals Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Leicester in their next five Premier League fixtures.
