Here are your Villa morning headlines for Thursday, August 6.
Villa ‘make contact with Celtic’ over £40m Edouard
Aston Villa have reportedly made contact with Scottish champions Celtic over £40million-rated striker Odsonne Edouard.
The French forward is attracting plenty of interest from the Premier League with Arsenal and Leicester City – who are managed by former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers – said to be keen on signing him.
Edouard, 22, joined Celtic from PSG for £10million in 2018 and he’s bagged 40 goals in 48 Scottish Premier League starts.
He netted 28 goals across all competitions last season and scored a hat-trick in Celtic’s opening day win over Hamilton at the weekend and according to a report in The Sun, Villa have asked Celtic about the availability of Edouard. The report adds that Celtic ‘are determined to keep him’.
Watkins a target after Brentford defeat
Villa have upped their interest in Brentford striker Ollie Watkins, according to reports.
Premier League clubs are circling around Watkins after Brentford missed out on promotion by losing to Fulham in the Championship play-off final.
Watkins rattled in 25 goals in 46 appearances as part of a devastating attacking unit which included another Villa target, Said Benrahma.
Aarons also linked with Villa move
Villa are interested in Norwich City defender Max Aarons this summer.
That’s according to the Telegraph, who claim that Villa could rival Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich for the England U21 international following the Canaries’ relegation.
Aarons impressed last term, despite the Carrow Road club’s drop back into the Championship after only a single season back in the top flight, and he has been tipped to leave the club remain in the Premier League.
He made 40 appearances in all competitions last term.

Man Utd make new Mings decision
Manchester United’s interest in Aston Villa centre-back Tyrone Mings is set to intensify after the Red Devils missed out on one of their top defensive targets.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in the hunt for backline reinforcements and had high hopes of landing Nathan Ake following Bournemouth’s relegation.
But Manchester City stole a march on their rivals and completed a £41 million move for the Dutch centre-back on Wednesday night.
Solskjaer must now turn his attention elsewhere and is likely to look in one of two places.
