Covidiot round-up after more lockdown flouting in Gloucestershire – Gloucestershire Live

The milder weather on the last day of half-term brought people to the Cotswolds town of Bourton-on-the-Water as more fines and warnings were dished out.

It’s been another weekend of people breaching lockdown in the county and beyond, with the police catching and dealing with a number of transgressors.

In the latest example revealed by police, officers had gone on bike patrol in Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswolds on Sunday.

The town is a hot-spot for people who don’t think lockdown rules apply to them and has had a gravitational pull on Covidiots throughout the crisis.

And while police said lots of people were out, there wasn’t much in the way of ‘exercising’ going on.

Lockdown rules are still very much in place on the day before the Prime Minister’s highly-anticipated roadmap out of lockdown announcements on Monday.

In a tweet, Cotswolds police said on Sunday: “Out in Bourton carrying out some 2 wheel patrol.

“Very busy today with lots of tourists from out of county and not a lot of ‘exercising’ going on!

“Multiple warnings, tickets and people being sent home.”

Other incidents over the weekend included four men driving up from Bristol to Uley where Gloucestershire police stopped them in a Golf, finding not much evidence of an ‘essential’ journey.

While a motorcyclist travelling from outside the area crashed after misjudging the exit slip road on the M5 to join the A417.

They went to Gloucesterhire Royal Hospital and were given a warning.
