A pair of locals have found a loophole that allows them to meet up for a cup of tea – despite living under different tiers.
Under the current coronavirus restrictions in the Lothians, Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian are all at different lockdown levels – with only East and Midlothian sharing the same tier.
But this doesn’t mean Edinburgh locals can sneak into East Lothian, and vice versa, because Nicola Sturgeon has brought in a travel ban making it illegal for people to travel in or out of their council area unless it is for ‘essential reasons’.
Those who are caught flouting the rules could face a £60 fine, but two creative locals have managed to find a sneaky loophole that allows them to meet up, despite living in different tiers.
The cheeky pair were caught on camera ‘having a brew’ by setting up a table between the East Lothian and City of Edinburgh border.
Stuart Goldie uploaded the video of the duo on social media, penning: “This is what the world’s come to…. Can’t enter districts so we will get two chairs and have a brew on the borderlines.”
In the viral video, the pair can be seen enjoying a tea and a blether while sitting underneath the ‘Welcome to Edinburgh’ sign.

The shocked man witnessing the pair in the video couldn’t believe what he had seen, reacting with: “No danger!”
