Child admitted to hospital with coronavirus in Plymouth – Plymouth Live

Latest figures released by NHS England, as of January 17, show that there has been a further Covid-19 death at Derriford Hospital.

A child under the age of five has also been admitted to the hospital with coronavirus, figures show.

It is unclear if the youngster has since been discharged as the figures cover the period between December 2 and last Wednesday, January 6.

In the last 24-hour period, one patient death has been recorded at the hospital, taking the total to 146 Covid deaths at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.

The city has seen 149 Covid-related deaths in total since the pandemic began, with three patient deaths at Livewell Southwest’s Mount Gould Hospital.

According to official figures from NHS England, 631 more deaths were confirmed on Sunday, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 60,921 across all hospitals in England.

Earlier this week, PlymouthLive reported how another 91 patients at Derriford Hospital had been discharged after being admitted or diagnosed with the virus in hospital.

The latest available data, released by NHS England on Thursday, revealed how many patients were admitted to Derriford Hospital, diagnosed while in hospital, as well as those who have been discharged, between December 2 and January 6.

During this period, Derriford Hospital saw 91 patients discharged, meaning they were well enough to return home after testing positive for the virus.

Of those discharged, 13 patients were aged 85 and over.

31 patients between the age of 64 and 84 were discharged and 46 patients between the age of 18 and 64.

One Covid-19 patient under the age of five was also discharged from Derriford.

Of those diagnosed while a patient at the hospital, nine were aged 85 and over.

24 were between the age of 65 and 84 and 18 between the age of 18 and 64.

One patient between the age of 0 and five was diagnosed while already in hospital.

No patients between the age of six and 17 were diagnosed, admitted or discharged from the hospital in the latest figures.

Of the 69 patients admitted to the hospital with Covid-19, eight were aged 85 and over. 27 of these patients were between the age of 65 and 84 and 33 were between 18 and 64.

One patient aged between 0 and 5 was also admitted.
