As senior staff writer Kimber Streams writes in our Windows ultrabooks guide, ultrabooks are the best laptops for most people. Lightweight with a long battery life, ultrabooks work well for basic tasks like checking and replying to email, editing audio, editing personal photos, or collaborating in Google Docs—all for less than the price of a more decked-out laptop.

Our pick for the best 2-in-1 laptop is the HP Spectre x360 13 and it’s down to $779 with code 5STACKBFCM21. This convertible laptop is a good choice if you want to use it as a tablet or propped up like a tent—these setups can make following recipes or watching Netflix easier. This item also comes with the most recent generation of Intel core processor and we recommend opting for the 8GB memory and 256 GB SSD storage.

Though no longer a proper pick, we still think the Lenovo Yoga C940 is a great laptop—especially now that it’s down to $1,000. With an Intel 10th Generation Core i7, 12GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD, the Yoga actually has better specs for less money than our current convertible laptop pick, the HP Spectre x360 13 (but it is heavier). We might see the price of the Yoga drop lower on Black Friday or Cyber Monday proper, but now would be a good time to buy if you’re worried about stock issues.

While we’ve seen this short-lived deal several times over the past week, it’s still a killer deal and fantastic drop on our budget Windows Ultrabook pick. This deal is so good, I picked one up the first time it went on sale a few days ago. It features an i5 processor, 14-inch touchscreen, 256GB SSD, and 8GB of RAM. Although it has a lower battery life and is about half a pound heavier than our top pick, it offers nearly the same great performance at a fraction of the cost.
