Aston Villa have receive a clear indication over Manchester United’s interest in Villa captain Jack Grealish, with the Red Devils deciding to raid Ajax after months of back-and-forth with Villa over their club captain.
Now according to journalist Graeme Bailey, United are set to complete a £40 million deal for Ajax’s Donny van de Beek in the coming days, with the transfer deal being finalised this weekend.
That has been backed up by Fabrizio Romano, who believes United have concluded the deal.

The Manchester Evening News reported back in January that Van de Beek existed on the same shortlist as both Grealish and James Maddison, delivering a big hint that United have perhaps moved on.
The playmaker sat out of Ajax’s latest friendly due to ‘developments’ over his future and now seems set to move on to Old Trafford in the coming days.
That £40m move could call a Grealish transfer into question.
Samuel Luckhurst of the MEN noted that van de Beek likely wasn’t United’s main target – but is the player they have ended up with for a cheaper price. Another hint that any move for Grealish could be falling away.
While United could move back in for Grealish, it remains to be seen how he’d fit into a United team that could boast Mason Greenwood, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, van de Beek and Marcus Rashford.
Grealish’s ability should never be in question, and while he wouldn’t shy away from competition the incoming van de Beek deal should perhaps make a Grealish to United move a little more unlikely – albeit not completely impossible.
